this photo is from our easter trip to france. we went to see "les neuf ecluses" - the nine locks on the canal du midi in nearby bézier (although there's only seven locks there now, the internet tells me there used to be nine) which was slightly less exciting than it sounds until a boat started it's ascent through the locks. then there was great fun with water pouring through lock gates and ropes being secured (and aonghus helping!)

they must've opened all the gates again after the boat was gone. which is when i took this shot.
