i couldn't find the name for this plant online - which is often quite a difficult task - but as i'm a self proclaimed 'google queen' i usually won't give up until i've tracked something down on google - though given that i was in work until 8.15pm today (since 9am) i'm feeling a little exhausted and so i let google defeat me this once. it's name will have to wait til my mother in law gets back from holidays and can tell me what it is (she is likely to know as it was taken in her garden).
update: i couldn't bear the defeat and gave it one last try. and success! it's kerria japonica pleniflora
